ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group Epigenetics and Plant Development.
The candidate will be expected to conduct innovative research to investigate the role of chromatin associated complexes in controlling Arabidopsis thaliana adaptation to winter cold temperatures. Aspects of this multidisciplinary project will involve genetic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and bioimaging approaches.
The tasks are included within the framework of the project CNS2023-145632 “Unravelling the epigenome dynamics underlying plant responses to cold temperatures”.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: Master degree in Plant Biology or related field.
Skills:
- A strong background in epigenetics and gene expression analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Demonstrable scientific success in previous roles
Experience:
- Prior experience in RNA-seq and ChIP-seq assays - essential
- Handling and transformation of Arabidopsis plants – essential
- Experience in high-throughput data analysis – highly desirable
- Knowledge of confocal imaging - desirable
