Job description

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a lab technician to be part of the group working of Dr. Blanca San Segundo (Programme of Plant Responses to Stress).

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://biennialreport2016-2017.cragenomica.es/).

Responsibilities:

Performing experiments for the phenotypical and physiological characterization of grapevine varieties during infection by the fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea: isolation of pure cultures of B. cinerea, molecular identification of B. cinerea isolates, disease resistance assays. These tasks are included within the framework of the project funded by the CRAG-IRTA “Severo Ochoa” Collaborative Program 2019, entitled “Resistance to the gray mold disease in locally-adapted grapewine varieties: Exploring correlations between pathogen genotype, host structural and physiological features and disease resistance.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:  The candidate must hold a degree in Biology

Required Skills: Lab experience in phytopathological and molecular biology techniques. Knowledge on plant/pathogen interactions.
