Job description

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Lab Technician to be part of the group working on Animal Genomics.

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biannualreport2014-2015.cragenomica.es/).

Responsibilities:

RNA extraction from tissues, DNA isolation, quality control of DNA and RNA samples, and SNP genotyping.

The tasks are included within the framework at the project AGL2014-56369.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

Graduate or postgraduate student in life sciences

 

Required Skills:

Knowledge of basic molecular biology and genetic techniques. Previous research experience in a laboratory would be an advantage. Interest in starting a master or PhD studies in the area of animal genetics or animal breeding will be positively evaluated.

We offer:

Contract duration: maximum 3 months.

Hours/week: Full time
