ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf).
RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will[BS1] be involved in research activities to investigate the benefits received by the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis in rice plants. It includes the analysis of rice plants grown under controlled greenhouse conditions as well as field-grown plants, the analysis of growth stimulation, Pi content and disease resistance.
These tasks are included within the framework of the project entitled “Integrated strategies for the development of sustainable rice production systems: developing new tools to promote the agroecological transition (BestRice) Next Generation EU-R&D projects in Strategic Lines; Plant de Recuperación, Transformación y Resilencia PLEC2021-007786).
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: The candidate must hold a degree on Plant Sciences. Holding a Master in Plant Biology, Genomics and Biotechnology would be considered.
Skills: The candidate should be familiarized with plant molecular biology and phytopathological techniques
Experience: Previous experience in plant-microbe interactions and crop protection, as well as in cultivating rice plants.
