ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020...).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a Research Assistant to work at CRAG. If you join our team you will work at a high scientific level participating in and carrying out the experiments independently and in collaboration with a team of motivated plant researchers in highly interdisciplinary research team. The tasks are included within the framework of the project "Treat plants with INVAIO mamaterials, such as natural lipid particles (NLPs), active agents, tracer dyes and other formulations"
• Provide general technical support to senior researchers using diverse Plant Molecular and Cell Biology Techniques
• Microscopy data and imaging analysis
• Gather and data presentation in scientific meetings (in English)
• Develop and optimize experimental protocols and methodologies for ongoing and new research projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor´s degree or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Plant Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Agricultural Sciences)
Skills:
• Experience in plant molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology: DNA cloning, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, western blot, analysis of traits for abiotic or biotic stress.
• Expertise in handling plants and greenhouse managing (Arabidopsis, crops)
• Desirable experience on Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope
• Data analysis: Knowledge of use of R package or similar
• Abilities for working independently as well as in team collaborations
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Contract Duration: trainee contract
Hours/week: full time
