ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://biennialreport2016-2017.cragenomica.es/).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group of Animal Genomics, under the supervision of Dr Marcel Amills.
The candidate will be in charge of Determining the variability of microRNA genes in goats as well as exploring the concordance between BLUP and GBLUP estimates in a population of Murciano-Granadina goats
The tasks are included within the framework of the project AGL2016-76108-R , TITLE Genomic analysis of the genetic determination of milk yield, composition and body condition and viability in Murciano-Granadina goats.”.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: To have a bachelor in a discipline related with life sciences
Skills: Expertise in bioinformatics
Experience: Deep knowledge in genomics applied to animal breeding
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Contract Duration: March 16 to May 16
Hours/week: Part time
