The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group working on the genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic analysis of the porcine sperm in relation to semen quality traits.
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biannualreport2016-2017.cragenomica.es).
CRAG has a PhD Program for international students interested in the areas of plant biology and biotechnology, and plant and farm animal genomics and genetics (http://www.cragenomica.es/es/crag-phd-program).
The candidate will run bioinformatic analysis of high throughput sequencing and GWAS data in relation to semen quality in swine. Occasional wetlab tasks to process sperm, DNA and RNA samples may be required.
These tasks are included within the framework of the project with reference AGL2017 -86946-R, entitled “Genómica aplicada al desarrollo de marcadores predictivos de caracteres reproductivos en verraco”.
A degree on Genetics and on Animal Breeding and Genetics.
Bioinformatics, sperm biology, pig production science
