Job description

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group working on Animal genomics.

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biannualreport2014-2015.cragenomica.es).

CRAG has a PhD Program for international students interested in the areas of plant biology and biotechnology, and plant and farm animal genomics and genetics (http://www.cragenomica.es/es/crag-phd-program).

Responsibilities:

The tasks are included within the framework at the project AGL2017-82641-R and include RNA extractions, processing foecal samples for metagenome analysis and DNA extraction in pig samples.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

Graduate or postgraduate student in life sciences

 

Required Skills:

Knowledge of molecular biology and genetic techniques and previous research experience in a laboratory. Knowledge in basic bioinformatics data management and analysis would be an advantage.

Contract duration: 2 months

Hours/week: Full time
