Job description
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a PhD Student to be part of the group working on Plant genome structure and evolution
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biannualreport2014-2015.cragenomica.es).
CRAG has a PhD Program for international students interested in the areas of plant biology and biotechnology, and plant and farm animal genomics and genetics (http://www.cragenomica.es/es/crag-phd-program).
Responsibilities:
To design and perform experiments (both wet lab and in silico) to contribute to the study of the impact of transposable elements on the evolution of plant genomes

Requirements:
Educational Requirements: BSc. in Biology, Biochemistry or similar; Master degree in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or similar
Required Skills: Good knowledge of molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics approaches to study genomes. Knowledge on plant genomes and evolution will be an asset.

Contract duration: 6 month (with possibility to extend all the PhD)
