Job description

ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).

RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with previous experience in potato physiology studies to be incorporated in the H2020 project “Accelerated development of multi-stress tolerant potato”.  Warm temperatures inhibit tuber formation by suppressing FT/SP6A activation in leaves. He/she will analyze whether this inhibition depends on the effect of temperature on the day length tuberization pathway or it directly relies on an effect on the TAC complex comprised by bZIP family members and 14.3.3s. Proximity labeling studies will be used to the identification of StSP6A protein partners.

The tasks are included within the framework of the project ADAPT, aimed to the study of potato tuber formation under combined heat and drought stresses.t

- PID2020-119758RB-I00, “Molecular mechanisms for thermal COP1 activation”

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational requirements: PhD in Biology or equivalent

Skills: The candidate shall be familiarized in potato physiology, the daylength tuberization pathway, and potato transformation.

Experience:  Previous experience in proximity labelling studies will be positively assessed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Contract Duration: 6 month within the project ADAPT and Molecular mechanisms for thermal COP1 activation project.

Hours/week: Full-time
