ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Postdoc Researcher to be part of the group Statistical and Population genomics, supervised by Miguel Perez-Enciso (miguel.perez [at] uab.es).

We offer a postdoc opportunity to work in the analysis of microbiome data using machine learning techniques. Potential topics of study include algorithms to simulate microbiome data, use of recursive models to combine microbiome and genomic data, experimental design or analysis of large – scale public data. The tasks are included within the framework of the project PID2019-108829RB-I00 "Deep is beautiful: Deep learning applications to genomic prediction"

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational requirements: PhD in a biological / computational area.

Required: Programming experience in R and/or python.

Valued: Experience in microbiome analysis. Experience in machine learning, ideally deep learning.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Contract Duration: 18 months (extendable if funds available)

Hours/week: 37.5
