CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).
We search for an experienced researcher to participate in a project dealing with mixed viral infections in plants, including the relationship between viruses, host plants and insect vectors, using plant molecular biology and plant pathology based tools. The experimental pathosystems include, among others, cucurbitaceae, convolvulaceae and solanaceae host plants, and also insect vectors like aphids and whiteflies.
The required tasks are related with ongoing current projects of the Plant Virus group, in particular with the project AGL2016-75529-R “Mixed viral infections in crop plants: dynamic of virus-host interactions and effects on vector-mediated dissemination”.
Educational requirements: PhD in Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Virology or related fields.
Skills: Motivation for research and capacity to work in a research team.
Experience: Previous experience in research projects in topics related to Plant Molecular Biology and Plant Sciences, including Phytopathology, Virology, and Entomology for the management of hosts, pathogens and insect vectors.
