Job description

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for two Postdoctoral Researchers to as part of the Brassinosteroid signaling in plant development group. For more information: http://canolab.cragenomica.es

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of large sets of genetic and genomic data, including high-throughput sequencing-based methods, high-throughput genotyping, and complete genome sequences and genome re-sequencing (http://biannualreport2014-2015.cragenomica.es/).

Location:

Ana I. Caño-Delgado Laboratory. Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), Campus UAB, Barcelona, Spain.

Brassinosteroid hormones control plant growth and development, yet the mechanisms for brassinosteroids action in stress tolerance are largely unknownin the plant. An important challenge in the lab is to implement the existing knowhow andtools for the cell-type specific signaling in plants to improve drought in crops.

Responsabilities:

Our lab will be recruiting two motivated Postdoctoral scientists to join different academic and translational projects in the lab to:

i) Decipher the mechanisms for Brassinosteroid signaling in growth and adaptation to drought stress in Arabidopsis.

ii) Use molecular genetics and chemical biology approaches to translate our findings intocrops, using Sorghum as a model.

The research will be framed within the recently funded European Research Council project that was initiated on November 2016 (https://erc.europa.eu/projects-and-results/erc-funded-projects/project/i...).

Requirements:

Candidates with a PhD in Biological Sciences or related, with high-quality research trajectory and a competitive publication track record are encouraged to apply. The project offers the possibility to incorporate scientists with different profiles and career interests, towards academic research or agricultural application in industry. CRAG has an excellent scientific environment, facilities and resources to perform cutting-edge plant research, in one of the most attractive cities of the world.

We offer:

The positions are based on an initial 2 Years Postdoctoral contract offered through the European Research Council grant recently funded to Ana I Caño-Delgado Lab.

Successful candidates will have access to research facilities, expert technical support and international collaborations.

Interested candidates, please submit:

  • Letter of motivation describing past and current projects (1.5 pages max.)
  • Full CV including a list of publications, experience and techniques.
  • Three references (including email address and phone number).

For informal inquiries, please e-mail Ana I. Caño-Delgado to :ana.cano [at] cragenomica.es

Deadline: Application will be open until suitable candidates are found.

About CRAG:

In 2015, CRAG received the distinction of “Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence” for multidisciplinary research in fundamental and applied plant biology. CRAG building was inaugurated in 2011 offering the most state of the art infrastructures for plant molecular and cellular biology research and it is located at the campus of the Universitat Autònomade Barcelona (UAB), and currently hosts above 200 scientists from all over the world.

CRAG holds the “Human Resources Excellence in Research” accreditation, which reflects CRAG's commitment to conduct transparent and merit-based recruitment and appraisal procedures and to provide attractive working conditions.

CRAG is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer and encourages women and underrepresented minorities to apply.
