Job description

ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with previous experience in photoperiodic control of reproductive transition of short-day plants to be incorporated to the team of the Plan Nacional project “Role of the E3 ligase COP1 in coordinating BR and GA signaling (COPBRA)”.

Warm temperatures at night interfere with night length perception and inhibit potato tuber formation by suppressing expression of the FT homolog SP6A leaves.

He/she will analyze whether this inhibitory effect depends on a regulation by temperature of specific circadian clock outputs or on a direct effect on the clock.

Proximity labeling will be used to the identification of potato FT/TFL protein partners and studies will be carried out to identify the residues relevant to the contrasting long-distance mobility of these PEPB homologs.

The tasks are included within the framework of the project COPBRA, aimed to the study of climate change effects on crop’s productivity (PID2023-153382OB-I00 “Role of the E3 ligase COP1 in coordinating BR and GA signaling”).

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational requirements: PhD in Biology or equivalent.

Skills: The candidate shall be familiarized with photoperiodic regulation and genome editing in crops.

Experience: Previous experience in proximity labelling and protein-protein interaction studies will be positively assessed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Contract Duration: 1 year

Hours/week: Full-time
