Job description

OBJECTIVE:

The Law 20/2021 on the stabilization of personnel in public administrations and entities has enabled the allocation of five new structural positions for support staff at CRAG.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILES:

PROJECT MANAGER (2 positions)

Minimum Qualifications:

Ideally, a university degree in the scientific areas of Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or similar.

Master's degree in health sciences or related fields is a plus.

Specific training in the management of European and international projects.

High proficiency in Catalan, Spanish, and English.

Minimum Experience:

3 years of demonstrable experience in project management, including European and International funding.

Previous and demonstrable experience in a research center is a plus

Job Functions:

Develop the preparation of national and international proposals, including budget preparation and necessary modifications, as well as advising researchers on the submission of new proposals.

Develop the budget for each project, including tracking and closure.

Coordinate the submission of necessary documentation for project closure, internal and external audits, and requirements of funding agencies.

Coordinate the preparation of agreements.

Collaborate with research staff, informing them about different national and international research project calls and supporting them in finding new sources of funding.

Act as a contact person with funding agencies in all matters related to project management.

GREENHOUSE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (2 positions)

Minimum Qualifications:

Higher vocational training in the fields of biological sciences, environmental sciences, agronomy, or similar.

Pesticide handler-applicator license, and if it involves toxic or highly toxic gases, a fumigator level will be required.

Minimum Experience:

At least 3 years of work experience in the greenhouse services in research (in public or private entities).

Demonstrable experience in pest and plant pathology control.

Previous work experience with some of the following plant species: Arabidopsis thaliana, tobacco, maize, barley, rice, melon, strawberry, potato, prunus.

Experience in the use of climate and irrigation software in greenhouses and growth chambers.

Job Functions:

Organize planting and all stages of plant cultivation and maintenance, including scheduling the planting calendar.

Monitor the vegetative state of various plant species in greenhouses, growth chambers, and phytotrons, controlling pests and diseases.

Collaborate with center users on questions and issues regarding plant growth and care.

Create a schedule for reservations of growth chambers and other plant cultivation facilities.

Verify the operation of cultivation equipment.

Assist in the training of new scientific personnel and greenhouse users on basic rules and the operation of the service.

BIOINFORMATICIAN (1 position)

Minimum Qualifications:

University degree in Bioinformatics or a similar field.

Master's degree in Bioinformatics or equivalent is highly valued.

Training in Unix, Linux, Windows, knowledge of molecular genetics and molecular bioengineering, programming in C++, Java, XML language.

High proficiency in Catalan, Spanish, and English.

Minimum Experience:

2 years of demonstrable experience in the duties to be performed.

Job Functions:

Answer questions about biostatistics, graphical presentation of results, experimental design, and data analysis in the Unit, improving the experimental design of researchers.

Carry out data analysis projects.

Collaborate with researchers in the presentation and/or publication of results, depositing the generated data in public repositories.

Receive data generated by external providers, verify their integrity, and provide secure storage.

Contact external researchers about analysis methodologies.

Provide researchers with information on the use of data analysis software.

ABOUT CRAG:

The Center for Research in Agrigenomics is a public consortium formed by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Institute of Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and the University of Barcelona (UB). The center is located on the UAB campus and currently hosts 200 members from around the world. CRAG's research programs (from basic science to applied research using experimental plant, crop, and livestock model systems) extensively utilize genomic technologies and large genetic and genomic data sets.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Type of Contract: Structural Contract

Work Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday in the morning and afternoon.

Start Date: Estimated for January 1, 2024

Merit Assessment - Scores:

Academic Qualification: 1 point if above 2 points.

Minimum B2 English (for profiles that require it): 2 points if above 3 points.

Previous experience in a similar position: 0.25 per year worked up to a maximum of 5 points.

Previous experience in a similar position at CRAG: 0.5 per year worked up to a maximum of 5 points.

Personal interview: maximum 4 points.
