Job description
ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis of photobodies dynamics in response to light, temperature and hormonal cues via super-resolution confocal microscopy.
Generation of transgenic Arabidopsis lines for different fluorescent protein fusions, as required for the confocal analyses.
Giving support to all team members in super-resolution microscopy tasks and in the processing and analyses of images, in addition to time course studies, and protein dynamics in response to external light and temperature cues.
Specific tasks:
- Photobodies Dynamics Analysis: Conduct studies on the dynamics of photobodies in response to light, temperature, and hormonal signals using super-resolution confocal microscopy.
- Transgenic Line Generation: Assist in the creation of transgenic Arabidopsis lines with fluorescent protein fusions required for confocal analyses.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare and handle biological samples for microscopy and other experimental analyses.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, particularly the Zeiss 980 Elyra 7 microscope.
- Data Documentation: Accurately document and record experimental procedures and results.
- General Laboratory Support: Collaborate with other team members in conducting experiments and maintaining the general operations of the laboratory.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: Degree in Biology or similar. Master in Biomolecules and Celular dynamics is a plus.
Skills:
- Proven capabilities in using super-resolution confocal microscopy.
- Skills in generating and analyzing transgenic Arabidopsis lines.
- Ability to work in an organized and meticulous manner.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Experience: Candidates with experience in generation and analysis of transgenic Arabidopsis lines will be positively assessed, in addition to previous experience in the use of the microscope Zeiss 980 Elyra 7.
