Job description

ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks are included within the framework of the project Role of Alternative Splicing in the interplay between light and temperature environmental signals:

 - RNA and DNA isolation technics (extraction)

- Handling Arabidopsis plants (cultivation)

- Cloning and generation of transgenic plants (gene cloning)

- Plant genotyping of insertional mutants

- Quantification of growth-associated phenotypic traits.

 This offer is related to PID2021-125223NA-I00 project, funded by MICIU/AEI Proyecto  Referencia del proyecto de investigación financiado por MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 /10.13039/501100011033 y por FEDER, UE.

 REQUIREMENTS:

-        Degree in Plant Science or similar

-        Master’s degree in plant science will be an asset

-        Experience in Plant Molecular Biology

-        Technical skills:

  • Previous experience in molecular cloning, CRISPR technology, nucleic acid isolation from plant tissues and in handling Arabidopsis thaliana.
  • Capable to handle Arabidopsis thaliana, cultivation

-        Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

-        Good time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

-        Languages: Good oral and written scientific communication in English.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

Contract Duration: - 12 months

Hours/week: full time
