CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops, and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es).
Role
The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG; Barcelona) is currently seeking a Technology Transfer Technician to support the Technology Transfer and Innovation area.
We are looking for a proactive and organized individual with an interest in supporting technology transfer in the agri-food sector. Experience in intellectual property management, technology valorization, and commercialization will be positively evaluated. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects derived from or related to CRAG’s research, supporting the Technology Transfer Office's mission: to promote the transfer of scientific results for public benefit, facilitate collaborations with industry, promote economic development, and support reinvestment into research and education.
His/her main responsibilities will include:
- Support in identifying, evaluating, and protecting research results developed at CRAG, including assistance with patent and MTA management.
- Collaborate with inventors to assess and develop technology licensing opportunities and strategies, including scientific and technical services and startup companies.
- Assist in promoting strategic collaborations with the agronomic and life sciences industries, including research contracts and agreements.
- Contribute to securing funding for proof-of-concept activities.
- Support the development of a Corporate Liaison Program between CRAG and Agbio companies to foster long-lasting relationships that result in agreements, joint research projects, and contracts between companies and CRAG.
- Participate in other activities related to technology transfer and innovation, including raising awareness about these fields among CRAG researchers.
Requirements:
Required qualifications
- BSc, MSc degree in life sciences or related disciplines.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain positive professional partnerships.
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience in a similar position or in any of the specified functions
- Proficiency in English (written and oral) and knowledge of Spanish/Catalan.
- Formal training in IP management, or similar business studies, is highly desirable.
Working conditions:
- Permanent position
- Working day: Full 37.5 hours/week.
- Planned date of incorporation: December 2024
