ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf ).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Postdoc Researcher to be part of the Animal Genomics group.
The candidate will:
-carry single cell analyses of pig testicles in relation to semen quality traits
-help training a new PhD student in this field of research
-help sample collection in abattoirs
-writing articles and presenting results in conferences
The tasks are included within the framework of the project PID2021-123725OB-I00 “Molecular analysis of semen quality at the cell level in swine”.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: PhD on Animal Sciences or Genomics
Skills: Bioinformatics analysis of single cell data RNA-Seq and ATAC-Seq of pig testicle
Computational analysis of genetic variation of allele-specific read count analyses
GWAS analysis
Knowledge of statistics and R language
Knowledge of Python
Knowledge of pig spermatogenesis and semen quality
Testicle sample collection and cell dissection
Single cell multiome (RNA + ATAC) analysis, ideally of porcine testicle
GWAS
Whole Genome Sequence analysis
Allele specific analysis of high throughput sequencing datasets
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Contract Duration: 8 months
Hours/week: full time
