Job description
ABOUT CRAG:
CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf).
OFFER:
CRAG is looking for a highly motivated and talented PhD student with previous experience in potato physiology to join the project “Molecular mechanisms for thermal COP1 regulation” (PID2020-119758R-100).
Warm temperatures at night inhibit tuber formation by suppressing FT/SP6A activation in leaves. Research will be focused to analyse whether this inhibition relies on the temperature effect on the endogenous clock and specifically on expression of GIGANTEA, a known protein interactor of COP1.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements: Degree in Biology or similar.
- Experience in molecular cloning and potato physiology
- Skills in protein biochemistry and protein-protein interaction studies.
- Capabilities in RNA-seq and network analyses.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Experience: Candidates with experience in potato transformation will be positively assessed, in addition to previous knowledge in circadian clock and hormonal regulation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Contract Duration: 6 month
Hours/week: full time
SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS:
Please submit all the application through CRAG website: https://recruitment.cragenomica.es/
