Job description

ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a technician/lab manager to be incorporated in the team “Signaling responses to elevated ambient temperature and selection of potato cultivars resilient to combined environmental stresses”.  He/she will give support to the group in the organization of the lab, maintaining its tissue-culture collection of potato lines, and a repository of Arabidopsis seeds. Selected fellows will be trained in the genotyping of mutant lines, the analyses of gene expression, and several basic molecular biology methodologies. The job will offer the hired candidate the chance of actively participating in the design of tools for managing the reagents and equipment of the lab.

The tasks are included within the framework of the BIO2023 MCIN/AEI project with reference code PID2023-153382OB-I00.

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational requirements: Higher grade training cycle or equivalent

Skills: The candidate will give support to all lab members and will be in charge of the preparation and maintenance of stocks. Skills in basic techniques proper of a molecular biology lab are welcome.

Experience: Previous experience in potato propagation and plant regeneration will be positively assessed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Contract Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension.

Hours/week: Full-time
